All about your electric bike battery

One of the most important parts of your electric bike is the battery. The battery of your e-bike provides the motor with energy, so you can enjoy that nice electric push in the back. How far you can cycle with a full battery depends on the capacity of the battery. And by handling your battery in the right way, you can enjoy it as long as possible. Want to know more about our BESV e-bike batteries and how to handle them perfectly? Then read on.

What battery is inside a BESV e-bike?

Your new BESV e-bike comes with a genuine Darfon battery. Darfon is a global pioneer in battery technology and is known for producing powerful batteries with a long-life cycle. So, with a BESV bicycle you are guaranteed a top-quality battery.

We have chosen to integrate the battery into the frame of our e-bikes. This way it is inconspicuous and well protected. This also optimises the weight distribution, ensuring the most stable road holding. The battery is removable (except on the CF1), so you can charge it anywhere.

How do I correctly charge the battery of a bicycle?

To get the most out of your battery for as long as possible, it is important that you charge it properly. Here are a few tips:

  • Always use the supplied charger for charging and read the charging instructions carefully.
  • You don’t have to wait until the battery is dead before charging it. In fact, it’s better for the battery not to drive it completely empty.
  • Charge the battery pack at a temperature between 10℃ and 25℃. It is not good for the battery to be charged in the full sun or in the cold. In winter and on hot summer days, it is better to remove the battery from the bicycle and charge it indoors.
  • Is the battery fully charged? Do not leave it on the charger, but disconnect it.

How do I maintain a bicycle battery?

Also by taking good care of your bicycle battery, you can minimize its wear. This way you can enjoy it as long as possible. To make the most of your battery’s lifespan, we recommend the following:

  • Avoid very high and very low temperatures. You can cycle a bit when it’s very hot or cold outside, but don’t leave your battery in the bike unnecessarily on very hot or cold days, nor leave it in full sunlight. Take it out of the bike and store the battery at room temperature.
  • Not using the battery for a while? Keep it charged between 30% and 70%. This way it wears the least. Because the battery always discharges, it is wise to charge it to about 50 to 70% before storing it.
  • Check the charge status of the e-bike’s battery about once a month. Has it dropped below 30%? Charge it briefly.

Cleaning the bike? Remove the battery from the bike and be careful not to spray the water directly on the contact points.
